Interesting Places to Visit

Eating out in Cyprus is not only extremely cheap but it is also virtually impossible to eat badly. A lot of the locals and tourists don't bother cooking at home they just eat out. You can get full English breakfasts for around €3.00 and the famous 'Cyprus Meze' is around €15.00.

Larnaca , which is the 3rd largest town in Cyprus is a perfect location to experience the magic of Cyprus. Larnaca has a wide variety of shops including many high street names such as Marks and Spencer, Next, Top Shop, as well as beautiful local stores. In Larnaca itself there is the 9th Century Byzantine Church of St Lazarus, Hala Sultan Tekesi - a picturesque ancient mosque on the shores of the vast Larnaca Salt Lake. Aphrodite the greek goddess of sex, love and beauty also made her home on Cyprus, and travellers throughout antiquity came here just to pay her tribute.

Toward the centre of the city, is one of Larnaca’s and the island’s most cherished sites, the church of St. Lazarus one of the most important places of Muslem pilgramage after Mecca, with the tomb of St Lazarus, the Fort and local museum. After his resurrection from the dead by Jesus, Lazarus elected to live out his “second” life as Bishop of Cyprus. He is reputedly buried in a crypt under the main altar and a further 20 mins drive takes you to Choirokoitia with an 8000 year old stone age village - a World Heritage site. For nature lovers near Larnaka International Airport there is the Larnaca Salt Lake. It fills with water during the winter and is visited by flocks of flamingoes who stay here from November till the end of March. It dries up in the summer though, leaving much salt on its surface. And while in Larnaca why not take a trip to the Camel Park at Mozatos Where you can feed or ride the camels.

A visit to Palm Tree marina is a must when visiting Larnaca with its many restaurants, bars, night clubs. Water sports are available at the blue flag award winning beaches with para gliding, wind surfing, banana boat, flying fish and boat hire all available. Alternatively, why not try a trip on one of the many luxury cruisers around Larnaca Bay. On the outskirts there is a 1600 metre Go-kart tract. The Sunday market on the Dhekalia Road is an excellent way to spend the morning browsing the local products and getting a bargain or two to take back with you. Every summer Larnaca hosts a festival of music. Outdoor concerts take place in the courtyard of the medieval fort.

·  AYIA NAPA
Ayia Napa is a twenty minute drive from the, apartment, with its fabulous Waterpark. Water world Cyprus is 70,000 square meters in size, is the largest waterpark in Cyprus, and currently the largest themed water-park in Europe. Ayia Napa has crystal clear water and golden sands beaches, very picturesque harbour area plus the stunning architecture of the local churches. This resort town is popular with young holidaymakers, with all types of water sports, restaurants, bars and clubs. This is a 24 hour town offering as much activity as you can cram into your holiday and is a major destination for clubbers and water sports enthusiasts

·  Troodos Mountains
Drive into Troodos Mountains which is 90 minutes from the apartment, where you will find spectacular scenery, walking, skiing and, wineries and monasteries. Troodos mountain range stretches across most of the western side of Cyprus, offering cool sanctuary and idyllic hours spent in long walks in the scented pine forests in summer and winter sports and skiing in winter. The Troodos mountain range and the summit of mount Olympus can be reached within 1 hour and 30 minutes , and during the winter months February and March you can ski on one of the three ski slopes.

·  Nicosia
Nicosia, the capital of Cyprus, is just a 30 minute drive North from the apartment. This cosmopolitan city is of particular historical and political interest being the sole remaining divided city in Europe. View the 'Green Line' from the observation tower and learn about the different influencing cultures that have contributed in forming the character of this unique island.
Nicosia is fantastic for shopping, culture and art.
